Letters received by Sally Ann Manning (1858-1889) and Helen Louise Mayo (1896-1933). Most of the letters written to Manning are from her mother, P. K. Blackmun (Alden, Minn.) and relate family news and information about her life in Alden. There are also a few letters (1862) from her husband Stephen, an army cook during the Civil War. The letters to Mayo are from her father and mother (1896-1897), her future husband, Paul Thayer (1915), and relatives and friends (1901-1910). Included are Helen's school records from South High School (Minneapolis), Stout Training School (Wis., 1909), and Oberlin Kindergarten Training School (Wis., 1913).
